James Ivan Phipps, 88, Lawson, Mo., passed away July 3, 2018 at Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center.
James was born on June 29, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo., to Elmer and Josephine Phipps. He was a Lawson High School graduate. He married Norma Sims on September 1, 1950 in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was a member of Lawson United Methodist Church for 67 years. James worked 32 years as an electrical mechanic for TWA before retiring in 1991. He was a member of International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union. He has also worked for Ray County Road, Lawson Truck and Tractor and Ford Motor Co.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Norma; their three sons, Steve and wife, Terrie, Stan and wife, Linda, and Kevin and wife, Debbie Phipps; seven grandchildren and their spouses, and 11 great grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Lawson United Methodist Church, with memorial service immediately following. Inurnment to follow at Lawson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the church.
