Danny Scott Easterling

Danny Scott Easterling was born August 7, 1958, to parents Bob and Janie Davis Easterling in Hattiesburg, Miss.  Danny grew up in Poplarville, Miss.  He passed away June 29, 2017 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Mo., due to kidney and heart failure.  His failing health was due to complications from cancer treatment at age 33.  He battled several health issues bravely for many years.

He is survived by his loving sister, Doris Easterling Hawthorne, Kearney, Mo.; Doris’ son, Kevin Hawthorne (Katie) and their daughters, Molly and Candice (Kyle) and their son, Jasper; Doris’ daughter, Lori Hawthorne Miller (Keith), and their children Ryan and Alyssa.

When he had cancer at age 33, Danny’s doctor told him to enjoy the next 20 to 25 years because his doctor predicted Danny’s health future.  Danny did just that.  Danny loved learning and returned to college, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree in Economics from University of Texas, Dallas.  He was able to teach for several years, imparting his love of knowledge to others.  His education studies took him to Mexico and The United Kingdom with a side trip to Ireland.  As a huge sci-fi fan, the highlight of his trip to Ireland vas visiting Loch Ness, hoping to see “Nessie”, the Loch Ness Monster.  Danny had a heart for rescue dogs, especially pit bulls and helped as many as he could. Danny was an avid reader and loved sci-fi novels.  He was a good mechanic and loved old cars, anything Chrysler.  His latest joy was building a parts list for the old car he planned to find and restore.   He embraced the digital age and enjoyed building and using computers.

Memorial donations can be made to The American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rock Ville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville MD 20852.

Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2017, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney, Mo., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.  Service will be held at 11 a.m.  Burial in the fall at Oakdale Cemetery, Seminary, Miss.
