James Ross Holman
James Ross Holman, 83, Rockaway Beach, Mo., formerly of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Mo.
Jim, known to friends as "Hot Rod Holman", was born July 24, 1932 in Lawson, Mo., the son of Howard and Edna (Clevenger) Holman.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Nadine Creason on June 13, 1953 in Liberty, Mo.
Jim was a masonry contractor for over 40 years before retiring. He and his wife traveled many winters to Florida making many friends along the way. He loved his family and friends, fishing, the K.C. Royals, and "hot-rodding" on his Harley Davidson.
He entered the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kans., and served 8 years in the military before being honorably discharged in 1960.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Ruby N. Holman preceded him in death on September 11, 2001.
Survivors include Paula (Curtis) Keen of Excelsior Springs; Linda (Jerry) Markley of Lexington; Debbie (Bob) West of Excelsior Springs; Rick (Cathie) Holman of Excelsior Springs; Tammy (Mark) Reeves of Sanford, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his loving sister, Anna Louise Maddux, of Elmira, Mo.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo., with Rev. Phil Riley officiating. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m.; funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial at Old Union Cemetery, Lawson, Mo.
A heartfelt thanks is given to the staff of Cameron Missouri Veterans Home and Comfort Care Hospice.
