Merrill S. Fairley

Merrill S. Fairley, 85, of Kearney, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Liberty Hospital. Mr. Fairley was born September 22, 1926 in Osgood, Mo., to J. Ray and Blanche (Sterling) Fairley. Merrill served his country as a Merchant Marine during W.W.II, as well as the U.S. Army in Korea. After his military service, Merrill was employed by Jack Cooper Transport for 33 years. Mr. Fairley was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was also an Elder Emeritus at the First Christian Church in Kearney, Mo. In 1954, Merrill married the love of his life, Patty. Together they enjoyed nearly 58 years of laughter and shared experiences.

Mr. Fairley is survived by his wife, Patty; son, Timothy Fairley of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; daughter, Tracy Fairley of Kearney, Mo.; sister, Amber Lou Smith of Gladstone, Mo.; sister-in-law, Ella McKown of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday May 2, 2012 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney Mo. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday May 3, 2012 at First Christian Church of Kearney in Kearney Mo. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs Mo.
