Moyne Louise Woods

Moyne Louise Woods, 90, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born December 24, 1923, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., the daughter of Raymond Kiple and Froncie Rowell Tindall. She was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School and William Woods College. Moyne retired from Mid-Continent Library in Excelsior Springs as Assistant Head Librarian in 1988, following 15 years of service.

Mrs. Woods was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Jacksonville and previously St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs. She was a 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi and a 31 year member of Excelsior Springs American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter of D.A.R. in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Robert L. Hockensmith, whom she married in 1944 and later divorced. On September 9, 1967, she married Robert Earl Woods and they resided in Excelsior Springs for 38 years, until his death in 2006.

She is survived by her son, Barry (Colleen) Hockensmith of Bloomington and her daughter, Jan (Wm. J.) Hudson of Jacksonville; two grandsons, Wm. Tim Hudson of Oxford, Ohio and Scott J. (Emily) Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Jack P. Hudson and Adalyn Kate Hudson, all of Jacksonville.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.

A second memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Excelsior Springs Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Knollwood Retirement Village Activities Fund, Trinity Episcopal Church Altar Guild, or St. Lukes Church Altar Guild.
