
Harold Irvin Hughes passed away on December 23, 2025 in Liberty, Mo.
Harold was born in Fairfax, Mo., to Earl Junior and Ilda Belle (Stoffregen) Hughes on December 16, 1965.
Harold was the youngest of six siblings. Harold graduated from Braymer, Mo., in 1984. He went on to join the Army on June 26, 1984 and was stationed out of Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was deployed to Germany during that time. He was honorably discharged on April 5, 1988.
August 16, 1990, Harold was in a horrible car accident that left him in a coma for 31 days. Harold’s life was forever altered by that accident.
Harold graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Devry, Kansas City.
Harold is survived by his siblings, Larry (Shirley) Hughes of Warsaw, Mo., Duke (Judy) Hughes of Rayville, Mo., Ron (Meri) Hughes of Braymer, Mo., and Penny (Fred) Banhart of Rayville, Mo.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Hughes, and sister-in-law, Juanita Hughes.
Harold could speak fluent Spanish and dabbled in a little German and French languages. He had a love for history and music. Most that knew him, knew his love for AC/DC was unmatched. He even sang in a Karaoke contest at Harrahs.
The family plans to have a gathering to celebrate of life of Harold on January 11, 2026 at the VFW in Excelsior Springs from 2 to 5 p.m.
