Ralph Edwin Hall

Ralph Edwin Hall

Ralph Edwin Hall was born on May 3, 1935, to Ralph and Winifred Hall near Breckenridge, Missouri. While growing up, his friends knew him as “Ed” or “Eddie.” After graduating from Breckenridge High School, he attended William Jewell College where he played basketball for the college team.

In 1954, Ralph married the love of his life, Nigel Anne Spidle. Together they built a loving marriage that spanned 72 years, raising their family and building countless memories. They moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where Ralph earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. After graduating, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Following his military service, Ralph began a 37-year career with Western Electric, later AT&T, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Their family grew with the arrival of their son, Barrie, and daughter, Jeanene.

Ralph lived a life centered on family, friends, and faith. He loved planning trips and adventures with family and friends that created memories that would last a lifetime. He especially enjoyed quail hunting, fishing at Lake Winnebago, and traveling. Ralph and Nigel also treasured the many evenings they spent gathering with their wide circle of friends. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ralph enjoyed competing in and following many different sports. Above all, he cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ralph was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and, in more recent years, a member of First Presbyterian Church. He found great satisfaction in serving others through volunteer work with Lee’s Summit Social Services and Meals on Wheels.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Doris (Yale) Druley, Jean (Biggie) Scanlon, and Helen Frances Hall; and his brother, Bill (Jaci) Hall.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nigel; his daughter, Jeanene Hall; his son, Barrie (Betsy) Hall; four grandchildren, Colten (Sabrina) Mehrer, Peyton (Dan) Sweeney, Connor Hall, and Reece (Caitlin) Hall; and three great-grandchildren, Declan Hall, Colby Sweeney, and Barron Mehrer.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 O’Brien Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit in Ralph’s memory.

Arrangements are in care of  Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
