Charles AsberryCharles “Ed” Asberry, 85, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away February 15, 2017.

Charles was born November 6, 1931 in Ellington, Mo., to Charles and Essie (Weems) Asberry. He attended school in St. Louis, Mo., graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Sondra Kintner in Desoto, Mo.

Three children were given to them to love, Randy is deceased; Darla and our son-by-marriage, David Sims, reside in Excelsior Springs, Mo.; Kristin resides in Kansas City, Mo. with her husband, John Peterson; four greatly loved granddaughters, Angela (Sims) and husband, Matt Siegel, Mindy (Sims) and her husband, Ed Knutter, Emily Peterson, and the late daughter of Randy and Judy (Hardison) Asberry, Angela Dawn Asberry. Judy will always remain our other daughter. He has five great grandchildren that also brought him great joy, Garrett Siegel, Owen Siegel, Laura Siegel, Chloe Knutter and Carter Knutter. He is also survived by his sister, Charlene Hagerty; his beloved black cat, Pumpkin; and special friends, Freed Weems, Phil Hutchison, Doug Arnold, Ron Davenport, Randy Ligon, Jeff Duncan, Don Turner, Bob Neal, Jim Barney, Jack Clemons, Jack Orava and Don Schell.

Ed was ordained as a Deacon at First Baptist Church when he was 33 years old. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017, with memorial service immediately following at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to the Excelsior Springs Hospice who provided wonderful care and comfort. The family would like to thank the two nurses Gayla Kutzli and Christie Ragle for the wonderful care he received.
