Doris Lukens passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017.
Doris was born in St. Louis, Mo., on May 4, 1934 to Carl and Clotene Lukens. She was an only child, but never felt like it as she always had lots of cousins and friends in her home. Doris was a selfless person who always put others first. She was a voracious reader and had a strong faith. Doris was, also, a great story teller.
She worked in the insurance field for most of her career and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs.
Doris leaves behind her special friend, Shannon Morgan, and the entire Morgan family including Shirley Morgan, Patrick and Verna Morgan, Kevin and Sonya Morgan, Molly Roberts, Jill and John Clark, Brian McGinness and Kent Barnhart; along with nieces and nephews, cousins and so many friends who helped us get through this sad time.
Thank you to Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center, Hospice of North Kansas City, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, and so many friends and family members.
Doris requested a private funeral.
In lieu of flowers, Doris requested donations to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Regent St., P.O. Box 551, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.
