Don Earl Dukes

Don Earl DukesJanuary 6, 1932 ~ November 6, 2017

Don Earl Dukes passed away at Cameron Veterans Home in Cameron, MO. He was born and raised in Padukah, Kentucky to Carrie Kay and Ollie Damon Dukes. Don had two brothers and one sister.

At the age of 21, Don joined the U.S. Army combat infantry.  Don served his country as a medic in the Paratroopers. In his five years of service, he received two purple hearts and an honorable discharge when injured.

Don wore many hats during his life, but most important was being a husband and father.  He loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and even gardening.  Don could almost always be found with one of his many “best friends” at his feet; dog.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy Kay.  When Don and Judy were married a blended family was formed; children, Katie, Don II, Kathy, Jeff, and stepdaughters, Jerry Lou and Margo; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grands.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Woodland Baptist Church, 11023 Hwy H, Liberty, MO, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Don E. Dukes.

Arrangements are through Bross &  Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

Our Sincere Condolences

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Don during this difficult time.
