Delmar Lemar Johnson

D. Lemar Johnson, 88, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away December 16, 2017 at his home.

Lemar was born July 12, 1929 the first of two children of Marvin Delmar and Lucy (Davies) Johnson in Dawn, Mo., near Braymer. He was a farmer at heart though he was a lithographer in the printing trade for many years. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School, class of 1947. He served in the United States Army as a Staff Sargent from 1952 to 1954. Before and after he was in the Army he worked at McCleary’s Clinic in Excelsior Springs as the manager of the printing shop. When he left there he went to Farmland Industries retiring after 20 years in 1986, where he had worked in the printing department.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Barbara (Clevenger) Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Anne Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Richard McSwain of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Erma Johnson of Liberty, Mo.; and a granddaughter and her husband, Katie and Alex Jones of Wood Heights, Mo.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 with service following at Excelsior Springs Baptist Church, 1500 Rosalea St. Private burial at Enon Church Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
