Alta Louise McDermott, 91, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away January 21, 2018.
Alta was born July 4, 1926 to John Wesley and Hilda (Doll) Rice in Marceline, Mo., as the youngest of 11 children. After graduating high school, Alta moved to Excelsior Springs following two of her sisters, where she stayed and raised her family. Her favorite pastimes include watching Royals baseball and being a ‘Maw’ and ‘Tata’ to her loved ones. Alta was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and daughter, Jana (McDermott) Limpic.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Andrea (Tietjen) Kramer and her husband, Eric; great granddaughter, Kellyn Kramer; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs. Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs.

Alta (Maw) was a very special lady to the Kramer family! We loved her dearly and so enjoyed the many years we shared with her!! We saw that twinkle is her eye every time Andrea or Kellyn walked in a room, the love she had for them was like no other! She will be deeply missed by so many!
