Dorothy Knipmeyer

Dorothy Jane Dinwiddie Knipmeyer of Excelsior Springs passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at age 95, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing Home.

She was born November 8, 1922 to Olive and Charles Dinwiddie. She graduated from Shelbina High School in 1940 and from Beauty School in 1946 and was a beautician in Quincy, Illinois until retirement. She was married to J.C. Miller of Quincy, Illinois, divorced, and later married to Levi Knipmeyer, divorced.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glenn Dinwiddie and Bob Dinwiddie, and two sisters, Pauline Erwin and Margaret Calvert.

Dorothy leaves behind five nephews, Charles Erwin, Gerry Dinwiddie, David Dinwiddie, Phillip Dinwiddie and Mike Dinwiddie; seven nieces, Wanda Lindstrom, Deborah Kerr, Marla Dinwiddie, Lynn Taylor, Kay Elliott, Brenda Gruber and Chrissy Geist; great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.

Dorothy was a member of the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church. She loved being with family, traveling and playing bridge, and the family loved her being involved in their lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., service at 11 a.m., burial at Crown Hill Cemetery, followed by lunch provided by members of the church.
