Walter Garland Phipps

Walter Garland Phipps, 65, Lathrop, Mo., passed away June 1, 2018.

Walter was born July 23, 1952 to William and Dorothy Phipps in Kansas City, Mo.  He attended Oak Park High School, earning his G.E.D in 1997. He worked for many years as an auto body/fender man. Walter was involved with Cub Scout Pack 272 and Boy Scout Troop 386.  He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, bow fishing, junking, picking and motorcycle riding.  He also enjoyed travel, having visited China, Thailand and the Ukraine.

Walter was a practical joker having once dyed his sister’s poodle pink while he was pet sitting.  He was also a very loving and generous man.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Liudmila Phipps; daughter, Jennifer Phipps; sons, Wyatt Garland Phipps, Gabriel Phipps, Quinton and wife, Sadie Phipps, and Jayden Wyatt Shockley Phipps; grandsons, Elliot Rigdon and Ryker Garland Phipps; sister, Brenda Yarrington; brother, Larry Phipps; niece, Connie Overall; nephew, Doug Yarrington; and grandniece, Camryn McConnell.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
