D. Dianne Musser Ford, Kearney, M0., passed away in Liberty, Mo., on September 11, 2018. She was born in Warrensburg on January 17, 1936 to Richard H. and Claire Braun Musser of Holden. In 1942, with her family, she moved to Kansas City, Mo., when her father was appointed an assistant U.S. Attorney during W.W. II. She enrolled in Border Star Elementary School and continued to attend school at Southwest Junior High until her family returned to Holden in 1948. She graduated from Holden High School with the class of 1953. Dianne attended the University of Missouri where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, continuing her education at CMSC and William Jewell College.
In 1956, on April 7, she married C.J. Ford and celebrated 62 years of marriage last April. She and C.J. were parents of two sons, Steven and Scott. While her sons were in high school, they moved from Kansas City to Kearney where they continued to live until her death. At the time of her death she was grandmother to Shane, Chris, Doug, Megan and Jonam Ford and great-grandmother to Alexis, Brianna, Cenzie, Connor and Robin Ford. She also leaves behind C.J., her husband of the home, and one sister, Mary Ann Gray of Holden.
Dianne’s first job was working for the Air Force at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base. She continued working for the federal government until her retirement, working for the Water Pollution Control Agency, Social Security Administration, Health, Education and Welfare, then Health and Human Services from which she retired as a classification specialist.
She and C.J. traveled after retirement, several times to Alaska during the winter, among other places. She had time to pursue her love of music. She sang in church choirs and at one time with the Sweet Adalines, a female Barbershop Quartet. She loved playing the organ.
Services for Dianne will be held at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 208 S. Jefferson Street, Kearney, MO, 64060, on Monday, September 17, 2018. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following services in Kearney, a brief graveside service will be held at the Holden Cemetery, Holden, Mo., at 2:00 p.m. before burial.
