Archie Joseph “Joe” McCoy, age 86, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Mr. McCoy was born on June 6, 1932 in Labadie, Mo. He lived his childhood years in Washington, Mo., and at 19 years old he enlisted in the Air Force. After serving four years in the military, he took two years off to go to Hannibal-LaGrange University. Then he went back to the Air Force where he spent a total of twenty-two years of service and retired. He took a job at Excelsior Springs Hospital in the Administration Department shortly after retirement from the military, so he and his wife decided to move to Excelsior Springs, Mo. in 1974.
Joe was a member of the Free Masons, the Veteran’s Club, and First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie James McCoy and Ruth James.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Ann McCoy; his two daughters, Joann (& Russ) Ault and Kathy (& Charlie) Freeman; his two granddaughters, Erin Colvin and Leslie (& Josh) McCoy; and one great-grandson, Maddox McCoy.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs, with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
