Jerry Monroe Teegarden, 83, of Lawson, Mo., passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 after a short but courageous fight with lung cancer. He was born November 6, 1934 in Elmira, Mo., to Arthur and Mary Edith Lollar-Teegarden. On June 26, 1955, he married Sue Ann Williams. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Jerry is survived by his children, Terry and Paul Tipton, Tammy and Steve Miller, Rusty and Teresa Teegarden, and John and Melissa Teegarden. He was blessed and very proud of his 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Jerry leaves behind one sister, Lucille Briant of Lawson.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cork and Faye Williams of Excelsior Springs Mo.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Randy Cole of Knoxville, Mo.; plus many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and G.W. Teegarden; brother-in-law, Wayne Briant; one sister, Roberta Calloway; and sister-in-laws, Jean Teegarden and Joyce Teegarden.
Jerry worked for Evans Oil and Gas for many years and he also hauled hay for local farmers from the time he graduated until 1973 when he opened the Lawson True Value Hardware store in downtown Lawson. Along with the hardware store he also operated a plumbing, heating and cooling business until retiring due to health in 1980.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Canaan Hill Nazarene Church, Lawson, Mo., visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. funeral starting at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the church.
