Cheryl Lynn Griffey

Cheryl Lynn Griffey, 69, of Kearney, Mo., passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2018 surrounded by family.

Cheryl was born March 20, 1949 in Kansas City, Mo., to Donnie and Ruth (Weber) Ruddle who proceeded her in death, as well as her brother, Mike Ruddle.

Cheryl’s career started proudly as a flight attendant with TWA where she was able to travel the world. She retired from Edward Jones where she enjoyed many years working as a BOA for Buzz Taylor. Cheryl always supported her husband in his Shrine Career, serving as First Lady of Ararat Shrine in 1991.

Cheryl will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Dick Griffey, and their children, Amy Nichols (Rob) and Zack Griffey (Kim), two grandchildren, Kaylin and Gavin, who adored her, as well as multiple cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Cheryl was a wonderful woman who loved her family and always put them first.  She was a true caregiver and will always be cherished.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo., with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions to Ararat Shrine Transportation Fund, 5100 Ararat Drive Kansas City, MO 64129.

Cheryl was a sweet and wonderful person. She will be missed by her friends and family. Growing up with Cheryl was great fun, as cousins we saw each other all the time. Her brother Mike was one of my best friends and as he is missed so will I miss Cheryl. Rest in Peace Cuz, you are now with your mom, dad and Mike who loved you dearly.
