Charles “Danny” Calvert, 83, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully on January 31, 2019 surrounded by family.
Danny was born in Marissa, Ill., on September 2, 1935 and moved to Kansas City with his family in 1944 at the age of 9. Danny enjoyed many things including bird watching, westerns, boxing, golfing, and telling tall tales, but most of all spending time with his family. He retired from American Marking & Paving after several years in the asphalt industry.
Danny leaves behind his wife, Sandy Calvert of 50 years; granddaughter, Danielle Calvert; as well as nine sons, two daughters and their spouses, Chuck (Nancy), Joe (Debbie), Phil (Lori), Terri, Joe (Teresa), Billy (Theresa), Danny Joe (Corey), Rodney (Lisa), Mike (Michelle), Pete (Sara) and Lisa Nall (Glenn); 34 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). He also is survived by his brother, Rev. Ronald Calvert and his sister, Regina Rogers (Phil).
Danny was proceeded in death by his father, Rev. Earl Calvert, his mother, Beulah Calvert, two brothers, Earl Jr. and Billy Calvert, and one sister, Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 12:30 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 with service following at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo., with full military honors.

Papaw we are all going to miss you. I enjoyed the time being with you. You were a great grandfather, loving father. He Always would tell stories to me about Monsters in the woods at night. I’m glad I got to spend my 19 years with you, you will be Amissed from all the family. I remember the four door truck I said was a two door.

I am very sorry for your loss. I got to know Danny through his friendship with my father. I remember him as a charismatic gentleman who I always enjoyed visiting with. I remember him paving the driveway at my house years ago. My condolences to all of you.
