Robert Francis Wheeler

Robert Francis Wheeler, 74, of Lawson, Mo., passed away after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo.

Bob was born on November 23, 1944 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Marjorie Collins and Joseph Wheeler. Bob grew up with five sisters and one brother. Bob met and married Rita in 1964. They had two daughters, Kristina and Teri. Bob and Rita were blessed to share 51 years of marriage together.

Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and he also had a great love for animals.

Bob and Rita loved spending time with their five grandchildren and their five great grandchildren. They both shared and showed their grandchildren their love of fishing.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita; granddaughter, Staci Porter; and brother, Mike Stringfellow.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Kristina Porter and Erik and Teri Lyn Wilmes and Greg; grandson, Robert Jerron Porter and Bree; granddaughter, Megan Wilmes and Jake Riley; granddaughter, Shayna Wilmes and Tristan Frazier; grandson, Gavin Wilmes; great grandchildren, Karli and Wyett Shipman, Talon and Daytin Porter, Jaxon Riley and baby, Riley, due this summer.

A visitation will be held from  11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday February 13, 2019 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo., with graveside services following at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Family is asking in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Northcare Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital in his honor.

I so happy to have known Bob. He was a great man and him and his wife Rita was very close friends and taught me how to fish. Love him like a dad. He will be missed dearly. Thoughts and prayers for the family. May he RIP.
