On April 17, 2019, the Lord called another angel home, Millie Shaw. Millie was born August 1, 1941 at home in Hopkins, Mo.
Millie graduated from Tarkio High School in 1959. On August 26, 1959 she married the love of her life, Danny Shaw. They had a wonderful life and raised two children. She was an avid Royals fan, she watched the games to the bitter end even when they were losing by a lot. She would always say “It’s not over yet”. She was a charter member and longest tenured member of the Keepers Club.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Vickie Matney (Richard); sister, Peggy Leap; daughter-in-law, Barb Shaw; granddaughter, Jesse; and brother-in-law, Donnie Slemp. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Millie was preceded in death by her son, Troy; her parents, Ruth and Len Blaketer, and her father, Albert Stearns; sisters, Barbara Hatcher and Dorothy Slemp.
Visitation will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 with service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Kearney First Baptist Church, Kearney, Mo. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Westboro, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Kearney First Baptist Church or to your favorite animal shelter.
