Melody Wilson, 63, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away January 11, 2020 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson was born October 29, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Melody was well known in town from working at the local bank, which she retired from after 25 years. During that time, she developed some of her most treasured friendships. She cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The thing she enjoyed most was going to watch her grandson, Kaelan’s baseball games. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking for those she loved. German chocolate cake and carrot bars were two of her most loved and requested treats. She enjoyed trips on the Harley with Don. Melody was a cat lover and had three cats, Sonji, Bear and Snowball. Melody also collected bunnies, Fenton Glass and jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her mother, June Leona (Kromrey) Brower; father, Melvin James Brower; stepmother, Laverne Joy (Kelley) Brower; half-brother, Jack Raymond; stepson, Ted Wilson; and her husband, Donavon Jerome Wilson.
Melody is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Brennan) Bedford of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; stepdaughters, Donna (Norman) Jacques of New Bedford, Mass. and Betty (Kenneth) Walker of Acushnet, Mass.; brother, Gordon (Diana) Brower of Boise, Idaho; step-siblings, Brad, Scott and Susie of Washington state, and Steve of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; grandchildren, Emilee Bedford and Kaelan Bedford, both of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Donald (Valerie) Martin, Tanya (Josh) Garcia, Adam (Sarah) Smale, Kenneth Walker Jr., Jeremy (Sonya) Walker, and Yvia Walker; great grandchildren, Stanley Theunissen of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Aiden Martin, Quincy Martin, Harper Martin, Bella Martin, Travis Garcia, Preston Garcia, Emily Garcia, Alex Smale, Jacob Smale, Logan Walker and Cameron Walker.
She will be missed greatly and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sweet spirit, and her genuine thoughtfulness for others.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 with service following at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kearney, MO., with burial at Masonic Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
