Joyce Fay Sweeney, 83, born on May 11, 1937, of Richmond, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Will, Eugene, Roy, and Bill; her sisters, Juanita and Loyce.
She is survived by her brother, Rick of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Twila of Independence, Mo.; son, Lee of Grain Valley, Mo.; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Joyce was a woman of great faith, and to this end, we mourn her passing but celebrate her life knowing she is no longer burdened by pain and has moved on to a much better place.
Joyce had her favorite hobbies, including knitting, cooking, and writing beautiful poetry. But her true favorite was sitting on the bank of her favorite lake watching her fishing cork waiting for a bite, but content if one never came. It is this very lake that we intend to scatter her ashes, for it was the one place she often said where she found true peace.
We will miss her poetry, miss hearing the words “love you”, miss her cooking. Her life was never easy, but she always strived to make ours a little easier. Thanks for everything, mom. We love you. Now go, the fish are biting.
