Barbara Elizabeth Burke Tabereaux, 91, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Norterre Assisted Living on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Barbara was born May 5, 1929 in Bloomington, Indiana, to Matthews and Irene (Royer) Carpenter. She was a registered nurse who worked in Bloomington, Kansas City and Excelsior Springs. She was also an active member of the Excelsior Springs women’s golf club for many years.
After the untimely death of her husband, Danny, Barbara became the quiet strength and heart of her large and growing family. In the late 1990’s she reconnected with Charles “Rudy” Tabereaux, a high school classmate from Indiana and they were married in 2001. Barbara has now rejoined her loved ones who have gone before, Daniel M. Burke Jr.; her daughters, Amelia Ann “Amy” Rohaus and Shawn Gabrielle McEntire; and Charles R. “Rudy” Tabereaux; her son-in-law, Craig Miller; as well as her mom and dad and brothers, David, Richard and Don Carpenter.
She is survived by her sister, Beverly Walker, of Bloomington, Indiana; her children, Mark Burke (Maureen), Susan Miller, Pat Burke (RaeAnn), Elizabeth “Beth” Burke, David “Mac” McEntire and Rick Rohaus. Also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Friday evening, October 2, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Excelsior Springs Golf Course pavilion. Private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Barbara’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
