Jayne Adela (Howell) Palmer

Jayne Adela PalmerJayne Adela Palmer, 81, went home to be with her Lord on September 21, 2020. She lived in Excelsior Springs, Mo., since moving from Kansas City, Mo., in 2010. She loved her family, she loved her Lord and chose to serve him. She attended Chandler Baptist Church, Kearney, Mo. She was employed as a legal administrative assistant and paralegal for over 20 years before and after obtaining her degree at age 50 and honored in Phi Beta Kappa. She achieved her goal of obtaining her Associates Degree in Applied Science-Paralegal; CphT; and Theology studies. But she felt her greatest achievements were her five children.

She was born to Christ-like parents, Alvin Rowland Howell and Rhoda Marie (Ruff) Howell on December 26, 1939 in Larned, Pawnee County, Kans., and was raised on a farm in Garfield, Kans. This was during a snow storm and her grandfather drove through it to see her as it was his birthday. She was due December 16 on her grandmother’s birthday. He was a Christ-like Baptist minister and she a Christ-like grandmother, mother and wife.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Wendell Howell and Joe Eldon Howell; sister, Eleanor May (Howell) McMinimy; and her beloved companion and comfort dachshunds, Willie and Pepsi.

She is survived by five children, Becky (Gary) Thomas, Jolene Palmer, Holly Palmer all of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Cindy (Tim) Riley of Owensboro, Ky., and Rod (Janice) Palmer of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren and their families, Katrina Starks, Cassandra Riley, Tammy Jones, Trevor Palmer, Kerry Riley, and Amber Riley; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Last and certainly not least, Jayne is survived by her devoted comfort Yorkie-poo, Pebbles, whom she loved very much and thanked the Lord daily for giving her to her. She wanted nothing but to give much love, comfort and joy. Also the following, 4-legged joys of her life, Sami, Reba, Gizmo, Mater, Suzi, Jake, James and Petey.

Jayne requested cremation. A Going Home Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Chandler Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any gifts be made in Jayne’s name to Colon Cancer Society.

Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
