Robert “Bob” Henry Asbacher, 79, passed away peacefully in his home in Excelsior Springs, Mo., on November 23, 2020. Bob passed away from heart failure.
Bob was born on October 26, 1941 to May E. (Wilvert) and Robert W. Asbacher in Bronx, N.Y. Bob graduated from DeWitt-Clinton High School in Bronx, N.Y. Bob met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Schreiber while both working at North Side Savings Bank, Bronx, N.Y. They were married on September 5, 1964. Bob started working for the FDIC after his marriage as a bank examiner, and eventually promoted to regional manager of the Criminal Investigations Unit. He held that position until he retired on March 28, 1997. Bob loved participating in Civil War reenactments, shooting pistols and rifles. He was an expert marksman, participated in many tournaments, including a 2nd Place finish in the Target Pistol 300 in 1981 and 1st Place in MSP & PC 2700 Aggregate and 2nd Place in PPC-NRA course in 1982 as well as several other awards over the years.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert (1969), and May (2004) as well as his wife, Ruth (2018).
Bob is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Christan (Doug) Carrithers of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and his son, Bob Asbacher of Kansas City, Mo. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Ashleigh Martin, Logan Martin, Seth Carrithers, and Preston Asbacher, as well as his great-granddaughter, Stella Martin.
Graveside services will be held on December 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life at his house on December 12, 2020 after 3:00 p.m.
