Ralph Eugene Robeson

Ralph Eugene RobesonRalph Eugene “Gene” Robeson, 65, passed away on January 21, 2021.

Gene was born in Kirksville, Mo., on November 14, 1955.  He was the eldest son of Ralph W. and Floy (Jerome) Robeson.  He grew up in the Kirksville area until moving to Liberty.  He graduated from Liberty High School in 1973.  He worked at Hallmark cards for 15 years.  While working there he attended Maple Woods and William Jewell College.  In 1988 Gene went to work for the city of Cameron in the park maintenance department.  He also was involved with many of the youth sports programs for several years.  Gene married Marcia Morrow in July of 1978.  They had two children, Katie Robeson Brown and Scott Eugene Robeson.  They were married for 42 years.

Gene was always an outdoorsman.  He was an expert fisherman and participated in bass fishing tournaments for many years.  He also had a love for baseball, coaching his son for many years.  Gene also had a love for horses and was active in teaching that love to his grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Floy; one sister,  Beverly; and grandson, Gaige.

He leaves his wife, Marcia; daughter, Katie; son, Scott; six grandchildren; brothers, Jerome and Michael Robeson; and sisters, Elaine Casey, Sharron Doss, and Betty Lockwood; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Gene will lie in state from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home – Lawson Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Lawson Cemetery.
