Emily Perez, 58, of Lawson, Mo., passed away April 26, 2021 in her home in Lawson.
Emily was born in Cambridge, Mass., on March 11, 1963. In her mid-teen years, she saw her need for Christ and prayed to receive Jesus as Lord of her life and in her heart. In the following years, she moved to Kansas City and served in a ministry known as Youth For Christ, where she met her husband, Jimmy Perez. This year, 2021, Emily and Jimmy had celebrated 34 years of marriage. She was a faithful mother of five children and three stepchildren and many grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family, of which she loved to spend her time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved KC Royals baseball, daytime shows, and serving her family and friends with hospitality and love.
Emily was the purest example of a loving and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother. Though she was a stay-at-home mother, she saw that work as a duty to her Lord and a ministry for her family. She exemplified love, patience, hard work, and faithfulness, selflessness, and unity that reflects her relationship with Christ. She passes on not only a strong example of womanhood, but the legacy of a generation that has taken her example in life and in faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Russell and Mary Nelson.
She leaves behind her husband, Jimmy; two siblings, a sister, Leslie, and a brother, Stanley; four daughters, Maureen, Jessica, Anna, and Olivia; four sons, Jimmy Jr., Luke, Gabriel, and Michael; and over 15 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 with service following at Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, Mo., with burial at Lawson Cemetery. The family suggest in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to the family to use toward the purchase of her headstone.
