Charles Omar Garrett passed away peacefully Thursday, May 20, 2021 at his home in Excelsior Springs, MO. He was born to Omar and Marjorie Garrett in Sedalia, MO.
He is survived by the love of his life, Roberta “Berta”, who he was married to for 47 years. He is also survived by his son, Travis Barker; grandsons, Blake Garrett and Garrett Barker; three granddaughters, Kayla Barker, Alli Lucht, and Makenzie Garrett; and great granddaughter, Freya Fears.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Garrett; and a son, Charley Garrett.
Charley was a long time resident of Excelsior Springs and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He was a pipefitter with Local Union #533 and retired from Ford Motor Company.
He was a member of Salem Christian Union Church.
He enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends and playing cards. He never met a stranger and was known for his luck.
He served his country earning a “Green Beret” in the U.S. Army Special Forces and served in Operation Desert Storm with the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. A brief service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Berta We are so sorry for your loss. Charlie was a great man and very good friend. He will be missed. We give thanks for his service to our country in the U S Military. We will also miss his smiling face every Sunday at Salem Church. Our prayers go out to you and your family. God Bless You All.
