Leroy J. Fluesmeier

Leroy FluesmeierLeroy J. Fluesmeier, of Excelsior Springs, died May 27, 2021, at his home of complications with Parkinson Dementia, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 17, 1943 in Wellington, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy J., and mother, Louise  Michelle (Sherrow) Fluesmeier of Wellington, MO; Donna Wilkerson, Blue Springs; and Nellie Franklin of Bates City, MO.

Leroy grew up in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1961.  He served a stint in the Army National Guard while working as Assistant Manager at United Super. Leroy then moved to United Super of Independence in the same role. After working for several grocery stores, Leroy built and owned one of the first convenience stores in the Kansas City area during the early 70’s.  After the convenience store venture, he went into sales in the wholesale refrigeration business.  He held sales positions with Harris Brothers and Hussmann Refrigeration prior to starting his own business, Leroy Fluesmeier Leasing & Sales.  He owned and operated this business for the last 30+ years.  All in all, he spent over 45 years in the refrigeration business. Leroy was always known as the ice man most of his early and latter years in business.

Leroy leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Connie (Walters) Fluesmeier of the home; two sons, John  (and wife, Beth) Fluesmeier of Conway, AR; Ryan (and wife, Darla) of Excelsior Springs; a daughter, Amy Fluesmeier Gutierrez of Excelsior Springs; eight grandchildren, Colin and Dylan Fluesmeier of Conway, Kade Gutierrez, Hudson, Oliver, Sullivan, August and Finley Fluesmeier of Excelsior Springs.  Other survivors include a brother, Paul Fluesmeier of Deepwater, MO; and sister, Mary Garrison of New Sharon, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Leroy enjoyed his family, especially his grandkids. He loved the Lake of the Ozarks and stock car racing.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will take place at Bross and Spidle at 10 a.m., followed by graveside services at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made In Leroy’s name to Three Rivers Hospice of Platte City, MO.
