Don Cook, 73, died unexpectedly on June 11, 2021. He was born on June 19, 1948 in Coldwater, Mich., the son of Don Earl Cook and Phyllis Clara (Metzler) Cook.
Don graduated from Quincy high school, class of 1967 where he earned high school letters in football, basketball and baseball. Following graduation, he served in the US Army in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze star. After the war he married Bonnie Ames and they settled in Coldwater, Mich., where they raised two daughters and two sons on Bartholomew Lake.
In 2002, Don relocated to Excelsior Springs, Mo., to be closer to his two daughters and his grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and son, Adam Cook.
Surviving family members include brother, Hugh Foster; sisters, Carol Ann Ward and Lea Ann McKenzie; son, Wesley Cook; daughter, Kelli (Cook) Iser, her husband, James Iser, and daughter, Holly (Cook) Kerkhoff and husband, Todd Kerkhoff and grandchildren, Cody Clark, Cory Iser, Zachary Kerkhoff and Tyler Kerkhoff.
