Rick was born in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, on November 9, 1947 to Audrey Jean Sells and Marvin Covey. Rick was an entrepreneur for most of his life, owning several car dealerships, auto body shops and even a night club or two. His passion for music led him to a career playing the pedal steel guitar in various bands. His God given talent, which was to play any instrument by ear, granted him the opportunity to play with greats such as Tanya Tucker, Barbara Mandrell and Johnny Paycheck.
Rick really enjoyed fishing with his kids and grandkids, sharing stories, cooking, family time at the lake and maybe a drink or two. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. with services to follow led by Carl Butler at Bross and Spidle Chapels, 217 West Broadway, Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
