Lavene May Cline-Baker

Lavene May Cline-BakerLavene May Gillette-Cline-Baker, 96, passed away July 5, 2021.

Lavene was born to John and Grace Gillette on August 25, 1924 in Arma, Kansas. She graduated James H. Bowen High School in Chicago, Illinois.  She had worked at Goldblatt’s Department Store, Lake City Ordinance Plant, N.B. Hesse Insurance Co., and the Coast-to-Coast store in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.  She had belonged to Mosby Baptist Church, years later Lawson Baptist Church, and was a current member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lawson, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and six brothers; son, Jerry and wife, Donna Cline; and two husbands, Clarence Cline and George Baker.

She is survived by her sons, Tom and wife, Lynda, and Jesse and wife, Stefanie Cline; and 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO, with service following. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.

Jess, I loved visiting with your mom so much when she came to visit. She was always a hoot to talk and cut up with. My heart breaks for y’all. I know God will hold you and the family in his hand and help you through these days.
