Ruth Arlene Smith of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Ruth (Colmen) Smith was born on October 14, 1930 in Roscoe, Mo.,to parents Elza and Elsie Colmen. She graduated from Osceola High School and then attended college for 2 years at Warrensburg. After college she became a switchboard operator for IBM. She moved to Excelsior Springs with her husband, Steve. She was a homemaker and also a florist… Some of Ruth’s favorite pastimes were shopping, reading the newspaper,and running up and down the road with Grandpa wherever it could take them in the RV.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Steven Earl Smith, and two sons, Gary Lee Smith and Larry Earl Smith.
She leaves behind her daughter, Stephanie Montgomery, granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Stiles (Montgomery), grandson, Monty Seely (Montgomery), and grandchildren, Alexis and Holden Seely, to cherish in memory forever.
Ruth was a Loving Mother! She will be reunited with her husband, Steven E. Smith. A true friend … great person. She would do anything for anyone! A true Indian princess. She will always be with family in our Hearts and souls. May God take her home in peace. In Loving memory of you, Grandma Ruth!
