Larry James Cook

Larry James CookLarry James Cook, 69, of Orrick, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and three children.

Larry was born on November 10, 1952, in Richmond, Missouri, to James Monroe Cook and Mary Jane Jeffries Cook. Larry was a lifelong resident of Orrick. He was a graduate of Orrick High School with the class of 1971 where he excelled in athletics. He received a full ride scholarship for football at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was a member of the Orrick Baptist Church.

On July 1, 1972, Larry was united in marriage to Kathy Jo McCullough, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was a sub-contractor for Wal-Mart, owning his own business, Cook Steam Cleaning for 27 years.

Larry enjoyed restoring old cars and hot rods. He loved making people happy and had the most contagious smile that would light up a room. Larry also loved the Kansas City Chiefs! He loved his family more than anything. His kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Jane Cook; brother, Dennis Cook; grandson, Bryce “Bubba” Wheeler; great-granddaughter, Westlynn Paige Shearer; and nephew, Gary “Tyler” Vaughn.

Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years of the home; son, Jamie Cook (Tamara), Orrick; daughters, Brandy Stevinson (Delbert), Orrick, and Jody Wheeler (Justin), Orrick; brother, Paul (Terry) Cook, Excelsior Springs; sister-in-law, Leisa Cook, Orrick; sisters, Carolyn Cook, Orrick, Kay (Gary) Vaughn, Orrick, and Tammy (Preston) Johnson, Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, Tristin Coleman (Matt), Caitlin Stevinson, Shaina Cook, Dalton “Kelby” Cook, Madilyn Stevinson, Brady Wheeler, Zander Stevinson, and Isabel Wheeler, and 10 great grandchildren, all of Orrick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 3, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at South Point Cemetery in Orrick, Missouri.
