James Richard Todd

James Richard ToddJames Richard “Rick” Todd, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Ray County Memorial Hospital .

Rick was born May 2, 1953 in Excelsior Springs to Betty (Dillen) and Roger Todd. He had one sister, Cynthia Todd.  Rick was a proud father to his daughter, Erica Todd and a proud grandfather to his grandson, Abram Carr.  Rick was very well known around Excelsior Springs as he was born and raised here his entire life. He was an avid dirtbike rider, dune buggy rider, race fan, and had an extreme love for music and cars and anything that went fast. He was also a big dog lover as he rescued many in his lifetime. If you didn’t know Rick from his love of cars, his sweet decked out yellow van or his love of music, then you most likely knew him as the trusted man behind the counter at Kramer Hardware for so many years.

Rick was preceded in his death by his parents and sister, Cynthia Todd.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Todd; grandson, Abram Carr; son-in-law, Ricky Burton; and his daughters, Ricky Mariah Boley and Olivia Burton.

Visitation will be held at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo., on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Our Sincere Condolences

Met Rick years ago when we were neighbors he was one of the sweetest guys I had ever met when we reconnected many years later he was still that guy. Very saddened to hear of his passing the world will be a sadder place without him.  He talked often of Erica and Abram I knew they were his world and they made his world. God bless!

My heart breaks for everyone that knew and loved Rick.  I remember him riding dirt bikes on Dillens hill and going on weekend trips to Chadwick with his friends.  He loved racing his dune buggy at the hill climbs in Holt and always walked away with 1st place trophy.  Then he started racing his dirt bike as well at the hill climbs in Holt. He had a great time racing against Sid Stewart on the bikes, David and Tim Harris were always there too!  Once a month the Hill climb was the thing!  I remember him talking about his car and van. He always wanted the color of his buggy to be painted what he always called “Ricky Red”.
Great memories with you Ricky Boy!  I love you and miss you dearly!

Many prayers to Erica and the Family for Strength And Warm Hugs to make It through this sad time… I Wanted to come to the visitation but was unable, Hoping and will make every effort,  to be at Rick’s Celebration of Life in the Fall.
