Myrtle Ilene Cox, 79, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
She was born July 2, 1942, to Clarence and Gladys Hartman of Vibbard, Mo.
She married her sweetheart, Gene Cox, on March 6, 1960 in Rayville, Mo.
She was a family minded woman, nurturing not only her children, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as Mom to many.
She enjoyed feeding anyone who came through her door.
She wore many hats throughout her lifetime and was often considered one of the hardest working women that you would ever meet; she never shied from a challenge. Together, with her husband, they ran Gene Cox Siding for many years.
In her downtime, she enjoyed playing cards, word searches, spoiling the family pets and spending time with family. She was a member of Flack Memorial Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kenneth Hartman; and sister Joyce Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, of 62 years, their children, Robert (Sandy) Cox, Debbie (Paul) Overman, and Jerry Cox all of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, Nathan (Mamii) Overman, Angela (Renjit) Varghese, Sarah Wang, Braden (Temple) Overman; great grandchildren, Hannah, Sabrina, and Zachary Overman, Elijah Overman, and Russell Wang; and brother, Roy (Wanda) Hartman of Rayville, Mo.
Visitation will be held at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Monday, April 11, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral will be held at Flack Memorial Church on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10 a.m.
