Lois Jean Jennings, 91, of Liberty, MO, passed away peacefully, with her children by her side, on April 14, 2022 at Shirkey Nursing Home in Richmond, MO.
Lois was born on October 27, 1930 to Homer Naylor and Hattie Butcher in St. Joseph, MO. Lois married Leland Jennings on September 10, 1949 in St. Joseph. They shared 54 years of marriage prior to Leland’s death in 2004. The family moved to Liberty, MO, in 1966, and Lois worked in the office at M. Lyon & Company throughout her career.
Everyone who knew Lois was touched by her kindness and giving spirit. She valued spending time with family above all else and was frequently found hosting her family for dinners or attending sporting events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When not with her family, Lois enjoyed socializing with friends in her community, volunteering at thrift stores, playing bingo at her apartment complex, and cheering on the KC Royals and Chiefs.
Lois was also passionate about her Christian faith. As a loyal and active member of Liberty United Methodist Church, she was often seen hosting Wednesday night suppers and funeral dinners. She also generously gave of her time and talents through the United Methodist Women’s Ministries.
Lois is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Greg (Linda), Jeff (Sharon), and Brett (Stephanie) Jennings; two daughters and their spouses, Lynn (John) Carson and Holly (Charles) Payne; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and an abundance of extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Homer; mother, Hattie; brother, Garrell Naylor; husband, Leland; and granddaughter, Michelle Leann Carson.
We will miss her more than words can express.
