V. Jim Dusek Jr., born January 12, 1949, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 8 p.m., surrounded by his family.

Jim and Wanda have owned Rite-Way Auto now for 30 years. Jim has been very active in the community for various occasions, including coaching baseball for about 20 years. Jim’s presence will be greatly missed by his family and throughout the community.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Janie (Sembera) Dusek, and father, Vladimir Dusek Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Wanda Dusek; children, Jeff (Megan) Dusek, Kevin Dusek, and Toni (Terry) Glunt; grandchildren, Danielle Glunt, Taylor, Hailey, Broc, Harlow and River Dusek; great grandchildren, Aleah and Aniyah Emery; siblings, David (Sandra) Dusek, Donald (Lorena) Dusek, Johnny (Darlene) Dusek, Janet (Doc) Delatorre, and Rosie (Mike) Tatum; and too many nieces, nephews and cousins to mention.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Pisgah Baptist Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, with graveside immediately following at the Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Excelsior Springs High School baseball program in honor of Jim.

Our hearts are heavy hearing of Jim’s passing. Know that he was in our prayers throughout his stay in the hospital. Our prayers are for you to find peace and comfort. Jim was always so fun to be around. Time shared at the ball park, Babe Ruth Baseball tournaments. He was a Gem. Good man.

Can’t count on one hand how many times this fine guy jump started my old Chrysler, always with a grin and great conversation. Diane and I send our love to Wanda.

I am saddened with the news of Jim (Laddie) passing on into the next life that Jesus has for us. He was a great childhood friend. I had a great many memories in school playing together on the school ground, riding on the school bus and spending time on the Dusek family farm. Jim from my childhood memories was very humorous and helpful friend. As with time and distance I did not see him in later years but my memories of Laddie were always great.  My prayers and sympathy are with the Dusek family.

Wanda and kids, I’m so sorry for your loss. Jim was such a wonderful man who stuck with his friends no matter what. He loved his family and community and everything he did was for them. I’ll miss him and Missouri is not as happy of a place with him gone. I’ll be praying for you all and thinking about all the good times in Excelsior Springs with Jim and the family.
