Helen Marguerite (Bachman) Gurney, 87, of Kearney, MO, passed away on June 9, 2023 surrounded by her family. Marguerite was born January 30, 1936 in Kansas City, KS, to Robert and Emma Mae Bachman.
Marguerite married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Gurney in Kansas City, KS, on December 21, 1954 and then became a homemaker. Marguerite was always drawn to children, and she spent her life raising her children and grandchildren, and serving as the neighborhood babysitter. She also loved crocheting, working puzzles, visiting the mountains, fishing, and taking drives.
Marguerite is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia (Rick Dehn) Gurney, Carolyn (Larry) Mills, and Terri (Robert) Wright; and her sister, Linda (Donald) Perkins. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, John Grotts, Amy (Otto) Steffen, Emily (Mark Harris) Gurney Dehn, Sarah Gurney Dehn, and Ashley (Jason Gillock) Gurney Dehn; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Henry Steffen.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings, Rose Marie, Frank, and Robert “Bobby” Bachman.
The family will hold an interment ceremony at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
