Edward Dwaine Cowsert

Edward Dwaine Cowsert, age 88, of Excelsior Springs, passed away August 9, 2023.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his father, Bob; stepmother, Helen Cowsert; mother, Velma; stepfather, Roy Stephens; brother, Gerald Cowsert; and half-brother Alan Stephens.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; sisters, Alberta Dinsmore of Lee’s Summit and Roberta Deitch of Tina; son, Gary Cowsert of Austin, Texas; daughter, Kathy Richards of Excelsior Springs; and son, Dale Cowsert of Overland Park, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dwaine and Betty spent most of their married life in the Excelsior Springs area, with the exception of a few years in the Cameron/Winston area followed by some time on the Lake of the Ozarks where they retired and built a house before returning to Excelsior Springs. Dwaine was known as a very social person, always willing to lend a helping hand. In their youth, he and Betty enjoyed being members of the Excelsior Springs Silver Spur Saddle Club and the Excelsior Springs Square Dance Club. Later in life, Dwaine took great pride in tending to his yard and delighted in watching Chiefs and Royals games, as well as spending time with family and friends.
