In the early 1960’s the family relocated to Hamilton, MO, where Dorothy began her over thirty year employment with the Stride Rite shoe company.
Dorothy and Norman were later divorced, and she continued to live in Hamilton until her retirement from Stride Rite. She then relocated back to the Chillicothe area, until recently taking residence at the Daviess County Nursing Home, due to health related issues. Dorothy was a very outgoing person, who loved to be with her long time Chillicothe friends, playing cards several times a week. She was widely known in the area for also being an excellent quilt maker, making countless quilts that customers utilized for birthday, graduation, and Christmas gifts. She especially loved to make special quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immense. She always wanted to keep up with their activities, and how they were doing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Jeanette, along with her older brother, Gerald.
