Colin Dale

Colin Dale

On January 22, 2024, Colin Dale, 41, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away in Denver, Colorado. Colin was born on November 22, 1982 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Deborah Lee and Larry Dale.

Colin grew up in Excelsior Springs where he began his love of sports, including baseball, football, wrestling and golf, before moving to Kansas City to attend the Pembroke Hill School. There, he enjoyed, captained and excelled in golf and wrestling, became a state champion and achieved many academic and athletic accomplishments. Colin also attended Vanderbilt University, where he joined the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and received his Bachelor’s Degree.

Colin was an adventure seeker, outdoor enthusiast, music and animal lover. From skydiving to deep sea fishing, The Doors and many cats and dogs in between, Colin enjoyed these experiences, lyrics and furry companions. Colin was looking forward to moving back to Kansas City, reuniting with old friends, enjoying time with his family (especially his nieces and nephew), continuing his education and succeeding in his recovery.

Colin is survived by his dad, Larry Dale, his mom, Deborah Lee-Hopkins (William and his children, Billy, Ryan and Leigh), his sister, Sarah Dale (Bryan Johnson), his nieces and nephew, Perry, Willa and Gentry, and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Colin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Emma Dale, and maternal grandparents, J.B. and Gladys Lee.

Colin will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Church. Private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wayside Waifs, a no-kill animal shelter in Kansas City, by visiting waysidewaifs.org.

Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

I’m so, so very saddened to hear that Colin has left this earth way too early. I remember him as a vibrant young boy with the world in the palm of his hand. There aren’t any words that can soothe the pain you all feel, but I’ll pray for strength to get through the difficult times ahead and moments of relief from the profound sadness you are feeling.

Dear Colin’s family & friends,
I was a foreign exchange student in Pembroke during Colin’s junior year, and I’m so devastated after learning what happened… We were together on the wrestling team that ended up undefeated that year. I have so many fond memories with Colin from that year, in 1999-2000.
I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to his family and friends. My deepest thoughts and prayers go to Colin and his family.
Sincerely,
Cam Cambay

Colin was my teammate on the PHS wrestling team in 2001. I was a Freshman and he was a Senior. I will always remember Colin for his kindness and sense of humor. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Colin’s passing. The last time I saw him he was only 3 or 4 years old when you lived next door to us. He was a little sweetie as was his sister. My prayers are with you and your family.
