Linda “Kim” McGuire

Linda McGuire

Linda “Kim” McGuire (“Grams”) passed away on her own terms Saturday, May 18, 2024 after a long illness.

Kim was born in Maryland on July 23, 1942, and remained fiercely proud of her East Coast roots her entire life. She met and married Patrick McGuire in 1961, building their family over the years in Silver Spring, MD, and Kearney, MO. In their time together she saw the Million Man March, sang in the choir at Kearney First United Methodist Church, travelled to Bethlehem and Jerusalem, raised thoroughbred racehorses, and introduced children with developmental challenges to the joys of therapeutic riding. She always challenged her family to learn and think more deeply and was always snacking (even late into the night). Always keen to be at the center of things, she still insisted on partying until 2 a.m. at the most recent marriage of one of her grandchildren.

Kim is survived by her loving husband, Pat; her children and their spouses, Kelly, Tracey and her husband Frosty, and Patrick and his wife Diane; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her close nephew, Doug and Irish daughter, May; and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Her curiosity, wit and eccentricity will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney, MO.

I recall the many enjoyable times singing with her in the church choir. May the good Lord be with you and your family and friends.
