Rick W. Schwab

Rick W Schwab

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ricky “Rick” W. Schwab, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on July 28, 2024 at the age of 68, following his courageous battle against cancer. Rick’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.

Rick was born on February 3, 1956 in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Everett and Marylois (Brown) Schwab and a brother to Donna Owens (Mike), Garry Schwab (Linda), David Schwab, Dennis Schwab (Phyllis), Sharyl Stears (Dan), Kevin Schwab (Candy), and Connie McKee (Mark).

Throughout his life, Rick displayed remarkable work ethic, loyalty, and integrity. Professionally, Rick had a distinguished 50 year career with Tnemec Company, Inc of North Kansas City, Mo. Personally, Rick was a hardworking, dedicated farmer with a passion for the simple life and when not on his Lawson farm, you could find him under the Friday night lights officiating high school football games for over 30 years.

Above all, Rick cherished his family. He was a loving husband to Shirley, with whom he shared 49 years of his life. Together, they built a home filled with love and countless memories. As a father, Rick was a source of strength and guidance to his four children, Stefanie Jones (Jason), Traci White (Camron), Rick Schwab (Alyx), and Scott Schwab (Kellie).

Rick’s legacy extends to his ten grandchildren, Skylar Schwab (Savannah), Gannon Boone (Katie), Lakyn Jones, Scottie Jo Schwab, Rikkie Schwab, Mac White, Parker White, Everett Schwab, Mia White, and Lincoln Schwab; and four great-grandchildren, Kemper Merchant, Cambridge Still, Kennedy Schwab and Prescott Schwab who all lovingly called him “Papaw” and “Apple Papaw” as they brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Marylois (Brown) Schwab, and siblings Donna and Mike Owens, Garry Schwab and David Schwab.

Rick Schwab’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, hard work, and dedication that will continue to inspire future generations.

The visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bross and Spidle Lawson Chapel in Lawson, Mo., with Rosary immediately following. The Right of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Parish in Excelsior Springs, Mo., followed by the graveside committal at Lawson Cemetery in Lawson, Mo.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to St. Louis Sports Foundation, Let’em Play referee retention program. stlsports.org

Rick will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the values he instilled will remain with us forever.

Rick was a kind and patient manager that was fun to work with and for. He loved his family, his farm, and his job. I remember how he would tell stories about his “pet” bull, rarely able to get through them without laughing. John and I will miss Rick very much. The Tnemec family has lost a great man and valuable, dedicated employee.
Lorri Clark

May all the wonderful memories of Rick comfort us during this heartbreaking time. Sending prayers for his family.
