Paul Glenn Dowl Jr.

Paul Dowl Jr.

Paul Glenn Dowl Jr., 86, of Kearney, Missouri, passed away August 24, 2024 at Norterre Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Facility. Mr. Dowl was born January 17, 1938, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Mr. Paul Dowl Jr. was an entrepreneur at heart. At just six years old, Paul worked at his father’s pecan plant in Meridian, Mississippi. Then he went on to be a cowboy at 12 years young, but Texas didn’t need any cowboys. So, he became a door to door magazine salesman which began a life of adventures.

Paul was a member of the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Alaska and ended up in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Paul was an honorary Mic-o-say with the Boy Scouts with his son Kamdan, where they won many first-place awards for Pine Wood Derby; this tradition carried on from his grandkids to his great-grandkids where he assisted in the creation of all their award-winning cars. Paul was fascinated with cars, motorcycles and three wheelers, stemming from his obsession with buying, selling, spraying, and racing cars. In this hobby, he brought his sons up, who went on to win many trophies and awards for racing three wheelers. He was a Kirby distributor for 62 years, he was the legs of his operation, from the ground up. Paul was a totem pole winner, where he won many prizes and cars. He was flown all over the country to train at conventions. Paul was an avid hot wheel collector; he had connections to get them straight from the factory and traveled the country to rare conventions.

Considering all these achievements, his most prominent achievement was the love that he had for his family, and the love that his family had for him. There was not a conversation that did not end in a good joke, or a good laugh.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, father Paul Dowl Sr., mother Glenna Burnside, and mother Alice Geneva DelCambre; his siblings, sisters, Joanne Stevenson, Jane Smith, Phyllis Ann Tipplebrother, Paula Jeanette Dowl DelCambre, and Eva Melton, and brothers, James “Bub” Stevenson, Aubrey Stevens Jr., Emmett Melton, Thomas Melton, and William Melton; his children, twin sons Bert and Paul Dowl, daughter Michelle Ann Dowl, daughter Deborah Lynne Dowl-Hennig, son Paul Glenn Dowl III, and son Kamen Paul Dowl; and his best friend, Norm Meyer.

He was survived by the love of his life Debra Eileen Dowl; his children, Lotilta “Tilly” Smith (Kevin), Paulette Swedenburg (Jimmy), Karma Johnson, Kamdan Dowl (Holly), and Ashton Stone (Glen). A dynasty of grandkids and great grandkids, a total of over 50.

Memorial services will be held at Northern Hills Baptist Church in Holt, Missouri, at 12 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.

Our Sincere Condolences

May he rest in peace, and may his family find joy in the memories.
My sympathy,
Margie
