Marcia Ann (Wilhoit) Flood, 89, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Marcia was born July 28, 1935, in Hamilton, MO, to Harold and Winnagene (Kemper) Wilhoit. She graduated from Penney High School in 1953 and later obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Colorado.
Marcia worked as a legal secretary in Kansas City and Excelsior Springs. A proud 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi, she cherished the sisterhood. Marcia enjoyed playing the piano, bridge, and oil painting. Her greatest joy was being the mother of her son, Mark, and watching him play little league football. She and her husband, Mike, recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Marcia loved walking at the community center, taking classes, and meeting friends at the Milan Breakfast Club. She treasured time with her niece, Julie Schmitz, and nephew, Scott Stith, and their spouses Buddy and Jen. Her great-nieces, Sadie and Sloane, and her great-nephew, Everett, brought her immense pride and joy.
She and Mike regularly traveled to Columbia, MO, to visit Mike’s brother, John, and his wife, Nancy and their family. A devoted attendee of St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs, Marcia was known for her bright, positive spirit and caring nature. She had many great friends and loving cousins.
Preceded in death by her son, Mark; sister, Sandra Stith; brother-in-law, John Stith; and parents, Harold and Winnagene.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Mike Flood; brother-in-law, John (Nancy) Flood; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Marcia will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A visitation to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, located at 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024. This will be followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church, located at 1503 Tracy St., Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Ann Catholic Church in Marcia’s memory.
