Paula Diane (Smart) Donegan of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away September 10, 2024 at the North Kansas City Hospital Hospice House. Paula was born in North Kansas City, Mo., on October 13, 1952. She was 71 years old.
Paula grew up in rural Parkville, Mo., and graduated from Park Hill High School in 1971. Paula spent years as a stay-at-home mother and homemaker before working in Healthcare management, and as a customer service representative at the Excelsior Springs License Bureau. Paula enjoyed fishing, crocheting, scrapbooking, crafting, home decorating, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Michael Donegan; son, Jason; sisters, Janice Shanks and Stephanie Boots; brother, Clint Smart; along with her mother, Dorothy, and father, Coy Smart.
She is sadly missed by the surviving members of her family; son, Christopher Donegan (Leslie) of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer Hubeny (Adrian) of the home; cherished grandchildren, Emma and Izzy Donegan, Gage, Aubrey, Evie and Troy Hubeny; her beloved sister, Jean Smart of Kansas City, Mo.; and brothers Rick Smart (Debby) of Platte City, Mo., and Randy Smart (Pam) of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
She was the unofficial “techie” of her extended family. She was a great listener and shared the gift of hospitality with her husband, Mike. She will be greatly missed by all.
Interment will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Friday September 20, 2024. Visitation will be on Saturday September 21, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Chandler Baptist Church, 11401 Missouri State Hwy. 33, Liberty, MO 64068.
