Kathy Lynn (Whitaker) Marcum

Kathy Marcum

Kathy Lynn (Whitaker) Marcum, 68, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Kathy was born on October 19, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio, to Clayton and Rita Whitaker. She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Northridge High School in Dayton, Ohio. After high school she met the love of her life Patrick Marcum, and they married June 14, 1975. From this day they were blessed with three beautiful children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Kathy worked numerous jobs during her lifetime but started working at KC Sports 15 years ago where she could fulfill her love of baseball. She was strong willed, stubborn and a fighter, but also had an enormous heart and loved her family dearly.

The light of her eyes were her grandchildren and you would always find Kathy and Pat at their sporting events no matter the circumstances. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren and every one of them held a special place in her heart.

Kathy is proceeded in death by her father, Clayton Whitaker (2015).

Kathy is survived by her husband, Patrick Marcum; mother, Rita Whitaker; siblings, Rick (Patrece) Whitaker and Pat (Anna) Whitaker; children, Chris (Cadi) Marcum, Shaun (Stephanie) Marcum, Danielle (Troy) Hudlemeyer; and grandchildren, Caden and Taryn Marcum, Jace (Brianna) Trumbly, Ryne, Landon and Calan Marcum, Ryliee and Kinsliee Hudlemeyer; and great grandchild, Oaklee Trumbly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Excelsior Springs Athletic Department in honor of Kathy Marcum (612 Tiger Drive Atten: Athletic office) or if you would like to make electronic donations by venmo (@Kathy-Marcum-7) and the funds will be given to the Athletic Department.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home with a grave site service to follow.

Our Sincere Condolences

My love and prayers go to all of Kathy’s family. I have the honor of saying that her mom is one of my best friends and with that being said I know how much her husband, kids, in laws, grandchildren, mother, and brothers meant to her. They are her heart and soul. She loved watching all of them in sports and we know how much she loved Kansas City Football. You fought a long hard battle and you will be missed by so many. Love you Kathy.
