Duane A. Kent

Duane A. Kent, 63, of Holt, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2024, at home.
Duane was known by all to be a genuine man with an unwavering sense of integrity. His face typically expressed, at minimum, a grin because he was able to find the smallest trace of humor in whatever situation he faced. In his personal life, Duane was a husband and a dedicated father. He was recently given the distinguished title of “PawKaw” by his grandkids and enjoyed exploring and doing silly things with them while making sure they were always careful. Duane was generous with his time and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. It was not uncommon to hear him say “It’ll be fine.” or “Who knew?” when things didn’t quite go as planned.
A lifelong machinist, engineer, and entrepreneur, solving problems was his natural element. It was without fail that he would implement elegant and practical solutions for anything that needed fixed or improved. From designing and machining intricate parts, to building houses and barns and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment, Duane’s skills were exceptional in all these areas. A true problem solver, his uncanny ability to see a solution where others only faced obstacles will live on in all who had the opportunity to learn from him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene (Ridlen) Kent, and father, Arthur Kent.
Survivors include his wife Debbie, son Spencer (Alexa), daughter Rachel (Nick), and three grandchildren, Blair, Remi, and Jack, along with other family members.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Fry-Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Missouri.
The family respectfully requests no donations or flowers but encourages all to hug their loved ones a little tighter today.
